Cross-state Diabetes Walk by Jagran Pehel

Twenty districts in Bihar, Jharkhand, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Uttrakhand, India. The Global Diabetes Walk was organized on the World Diabetes Day, 14th November, 2008 by Jagran Pehel, a social initiative of Jagran Prakashan Limited. The walk was held simultaneously across twenty districts in six states namely Bihar, Jharkhand, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Uttrakhand. The walk got overwhelming response from people belonging to a diverse age group and walks of life. In all, around 25100 people participated across the country. The participants were as varied as from senior bureaucrats to district government officials to politicians to media persons to sports personalities to professionals in private jobs to businessmen/women to children and college students.
