CrawleyJackie Rivers from the Novo Nordisk office in Crawley coordinated a Global Diabetes Walk and a Unite circle that 1750 people decided to join - she expected 100.
Liverpool20 people from the Royal Liverpool Hospital Diabetes Centre joined the walk, totally 50 people from Liverpool walked. ManchesterSarah Green from manchester reports that 23 joined her walk. Dewsbury12 people joined Tracy Clay's walk in Dewsbury. Bishop Auckland30 people joined a walk arranged by the Bishop Auckland General Hospital, photo from Jill Grainger. Natland, CumbriaLesley Capstick from St Mark's school, Natland sends this picture of all the school forming a blue circle to signify the "Unite for Diabetes" symbol. It appeared in the local paper the Westmoreland Gazette. ‘The Gazette’ said "That the pupils walked a special course around the playground and joined in a global campaign to highlight the effect of this potentially debilitating illness…….and that it was part of the first ever United Nations observed Diabetes Day". |
