IndonesiaIn Indonesia more than 42 individual walks was organised with the expected participation of more than 10.000 people, covering West, East and Central regions of the country. Many of the larger walks organised on WDD was initiated by the Indonesian Diabetes Association. Particularly large crowds of women took part in the Walks which included several fitness activities. All participants were wearing T-Shirt designs downloaded from the Global Diabetes Walk toolkit with key messages about prevention of diabetes.
Tomohon, North SulawesiTo celebrate World Diabetes Day 2007 in Tomohon City, Dr. Paul Harijanto from PERSADIA Tomohon, arranged events such as 'Traditonal Minahasa War Dances', exercises and breakfast with a diabetic menu, including porridge with mixed vegetables; 'Bubur Manado'. 214 people joined the walk.
SurabayaIn Surabaya 150 joined the Global Diabetes Walk.
Maumere
Tanjungpinang2007 was the first year the diabetes associtaion Persadia Indonesia, Tanjungpinang district joined the Global Diabetes walk. 280 people walked in light rain and windy weather.´ Pictures from Dr.Augustine
