Maldives

An amazing 20.000 people joined the Global Diabetes Walk 2007 on WDD. 
As the population of Maldives is divided in to 200 different islands, a walk was organized in each of the 200 islands.

More than 20,000 people walked from these 200 islands. The walks were organized by the Diabetes and Cancer Society of Maldives. The pictures displayed on the website has been sent by Aishath Shiruhana and are from the capital island Male’ where more than 2000 people joined the walk and the closing functions which included aerobics sessions from a local fitness club.

The Minister of Health and Minister of Sports participated in the walk. This walk was telecasted live through out the country from the national TV and radio station.
